Get your bedroom ready for spring in 4 steps

The birds are starting to sing, the fields are filled with fresh flowers and we can even enjoy the first rays of sunshine - spring has finally begun. Could your bedroom use a refresh? Time for a breath of fresh air in your bedroom: here's how to make your bedroom spring-ready in 4 steps!

1. Out with the old

The saying goes "A tidy house is a tidy head." for a reason. In fact, research from The National Sleep Foundation shows that you sleep up to 19 percent (!) better in a tidy room. High time to rid your bedroom of unnecessary stuff. Tip 💡: Give your things a fixed place. By keeping similar items together and in a place where you use them regularly, you prevent them from lying around unnecessarily.

Is there a sneaky collector lurking inside you? Then ask yourself if you would travel one kilometer for the item in question. Is the answer "no? Then you can confidently part with it 😉.

2. Time for the real thing

Fabric furniture and textiles are like a magnet for (fine) dust, dander and dust mites. Therefore, in addition to the usual washing of bedding, your pillows, mattress and headboard cannot be left behind during the big spring cleaning.

  • Give your mattress time to air out. By not remaking your bed right away, you prevent moisture from nighttime perspiration from further penetrating your mattress. Do you have some extra time? Then spread a good layer of baking soda over the mattress and let it soak in for at least 15 minutes (here goes: the longer, the better). The baking soda will adhere to the moisture and thus neutralize unpleasant odors. Use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the baking soda.
  • Do you have a fabric bed or box spring? Then don't forget to vacuum your headboard, this way you reduce the chance of allergic reactions caused by dust and dust mites.

3. Keep it lighthearted

Did you know that we spend an average of 32 years of our lives sleeping? 😯 All the more important it is to pay attention to air quality in the bedroom. Therefore, ventilate your bedroom daily to remove polluted air and let enough fresh air into the room. In addition, a air purifier with HEPA filter can help filter (fine) dust, pollen and other polluting particles from the air - so you are guaranteed to sleep like a rose.

4. Connecting the dots

With an essential oil in the scent of lavender, you not only bring the floral scent of spring into your home, but also create an oasis of calm in the bedroom. In fact, this nap in a bottle has a calming effect and promotes sleep.

Happy cleaning!
